Your role will be focused on achieving the Local Plan strategy for growth in South Somerset. The successful candidate will be capable of balancing a varied workload, across a number of planning policy issues – from housing through to retail, and economic development through to education. An excellent communicator, the right person must be able to produce high quality written and verbal outputs and present information in an easy to understand format.  

The role requires an understanding of national and local planning policy issues, and an ability to analyse and explain what this means for the future of South Somerset. Experience in planning and/or planning policy is essential, and candidates must have professional membership to the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).
