Independent Member of Audit Committee
South Somerset District Council is looking to appoint a member of the public to serve as an Independent Member of its Audit Committee.
The purpose of the Committee is to review and scrutinise the Council’s financial affairs, including its risk management, internal control and corporate governance arrangements. The role will also enable you to gain an insight into how the Council operates.
We are looking for someone to bring additional knowledge and expertise to the Committee, and to reinforce political neutrality and independence.
You should have a desire to serve the local authority and a keen interest in public life, an ability to understand complex issues, an understanding of the importance of accountability and probity in public life and an ability to be objective and impartial, whilst exercising good judgement.

The role is a voluntary position; however reasonable expenses for travel and subsistence will be paid.
The Committee currently meets approximately 6 times per year at the Council offices in Yeovil.
